Hi dear Palomino Volume 1 backers,
First, apologies if you’ve already backed Palomino Vol 2 + 3 and you’ve already received an update this morning! Don’t mean to assault your mailbox, it’s just that we’re super excited about this campaign!
Here’s more fun process material, which shows my use of CG sets which I have been using extensively as reference, in order to capture a specific and consistent texture for everyday life in Los Angeles.
AND... THE CONVENTIONS ARE BACK!
We’ve been sorely missing seeing you all at the cons during ‘you know what’, and we’re so excited to come back to the shows this year. The year started out wonderfully with ECCC, which was a blast (see pic below). So here’s where we’ll be in the near future:

Hi dear Palomino Vol. 1 backers,
It’s been a quiet week at Dark Planet Comics–OK, just kidding, it’s been insane! I’m so happy to announce, we sailed past our original funding goal!
Volumes 2 and 3 of my 4-volumegraphic novel series PALOMINO combines my passion for mysteries, hardboiled dialogue, music,lived-in slice-of-life, and Los Angeles' weird and forgotten history.
PALOMINO RETURNS with 250 NEW PAGES across 2 NEW VOLUMES! And it is filled to the brim with more heart, more noir, more suspense, more slice-of-life, more comedy, and more passion than ever before.
Meanwhile I’ve also been doing tons of interviews and podcasts! I love doing those because it gives me a chance to look back on the work and look at it from a brand new perspective. So for a fun conversation about comics, check out my conversation with the awesome Ms. Jen on “Talking Shop!”

As you know, I rarely do commissions, so when we offered 3 of them last week, I was very excited to see that they were all quickly taken! So by popular demand, we are adding 2 commissions in the first tier:
ONE FULL CHARACTER and a prop or simple element (11x17): $600
ALSO, there is A TWIST: the top commission was pledged on by –I kid you not– a Nigerian prince. Unfortunately, that prevented legitimate backers from picking this commission, but it is now open again:
FULL SCENE (kind like a cover) with 2 or 3 characters and full background (17x22): $1800

For more that 90 years Nancy Drew has starred in hundreds of books and graphic novels and has been the subject of no less than six feature films (from 1938’s Nancy Drew… Detective to 2019’s Nancy Drew and the Hidden Staircase). She’s had TV shows in the 1980s, 1990s, and a series currently airing on the CW. But, curiously, she’s never had an official line of action figures… Now, with a license from Simon & Schuster, Wandering Planet Toys is launching a Kickstarter campaign to fund the first-ever officially licensed action figure line, featuring 4-inch retro style collectible figures based on the classic Nancy Drew book cover art by celebrated artist Rudy Nappi.
