Hi all,

A huge thank you to everyone for backing PALOMINO and opting in for this new adventure! At almost 700 backers, I am touched & humbled by the response, especially in these difficult times!

In the coming weeks, I will stay in touch and keep everyone updated as the fulfillment process sets in motion, so here is what to look out for next! Within the next 2 weeks, you will receive a survey from Backerkit that will be collecting your shipping info, as well as presenting you with variant options to chose from when applicable (for instance Prints, T-shirt, etc…).

I will also notify everyone as the surveys go out, so that no one misses them!

Until then, I Just wanted to say thank you again, as the PALOMINO Kickstarter campaign rides into the sunset!

Best—

THE FINAL STRETCH: COVER, NEW ART PRINT & ORIGINAL ART
almost 4 years ago – Tue, May 12, 2020 at 11:14:52 PM

Hey all,

The PALOMINO campaign is entering its final, final stretch, and I just wanted to thank everyone for joining me in this adventure. No one starts a project like this for any other reason than absolute passion, and the incredible response from such a diverse group of backers really means the world to me!

At this time, I have three cool things to announce:

  •  PALOMINO has an official cover! Check out the making-of-video that timelapses through the final inking and the coloring process! It’s fun to watch!
  •  The color art from the cover (without the lettering) is now also available as a signed art print at both 11x17" and 17x22". Musicians have asked me about a steel-guitar-centric art print, and as it turns out, a steel guitar is prominently featured in this image, so if this is you, I hope you dig it! If you want this prints as part of your pledge and want this one as part of your selection, no action is needed at this time. This print will be included in the selection offered to you in the fulfillment survey after the campaign has closed. If you want to add this print to your existing pledge, you can create a new pledge for the extra print (Art print - 25$ or Jumbo Art Print $55).

  • Lastly: The original Black and white art for the cover is also for sale as part of the campaign. It is ink on Bristol, and 17x22".

And here is what the front of the book will look like!

Thank you again so much for your support! This has been an extraordinary adventure, and it is only beginning!

Be well and stay safe!

FACEBOOK LIVE TONIGHT: COLORING A PAGE
almost 4 years ago – Sun, May 03, 2020 at 10:48:17 PM

Hello my dear backers!

One of the funnest parts of creating PALOMINO was making it a full-color book! The line art for this book intentionally left a lot of room for color, so I cut out quite a challenge for myself. I had a blast trying to capture the drama of noir, as well as the experience of being in a music club and the feeling of living in LA in general. The fun I’ve had must be showing, because color has been one of the most commented on aspects of the book. So tonight, Thursday April 30th at 7pm PST, I will go on Facebook Live on my personal FB page, and will be coloring one of the last remaining pages in real time, answering questions and taking you through the process!

This should be a lot of fun and I’m looking forward to seeing you there!

THANK YOU SO MUCH!
about 4 years ago – Wed, Apr 29, 2020 at 09:58:03 PM

We did it in just 5 days! That is absolutely incredible! Thank you so much, PALOMINO backers!!!

And The most incredible part in all this is the diverse nature of the backers who came together to make this book possible! Previous SILVER readers, comics fans, music fans, musicians—a special shout out to the steel guitar players who came to represent in force! I am incredibly grateful to all of you!

This is also a good time to answer some questions frequently asked over the last few days:

  • Q: How and when do I get to choose my art prints?
  • A: When the campaign closes (5/13) all backers will get an email asking them for their shipping info, and asking to make their picks for all items that include an option.
  • Q-Will the books come signed?
  • A-You betcha!
  • Q: Will I be able to add to my original selection?
  • A: Yes. Also at the end of the campaign, after filling in your shipping info, you will go through a check out process that lets you add on extra items if you choose.

Lastly, I wanted to share with you this super cool article in our local blog The LAist, which offers an in-depth conversation on the book, and the historical context of the Palomino.

That said, the campaign continues, and if you have friends who you KNOW would enjoy Palomino, please alert them to it!

Thank you again, and the very best!
